Richard Yau is a Milwaukee-based painter whose work explores how light shifts through perception and memory, examining the tension between abstraction and representation while engaging with classical approaches to light and form.

Working alla prima in a single session, he builds structure and texture directly on the canvas through wet-on-wet oil painting.

He has pursued his study of painting in Florence, Italy and at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and maintains an independent studio practice in Milwaukee.
